The Brazilian Customs require all information on the quantity and type of packages mentioned on the bill of ladings to match exactly what is loaded into the container. Please avoid using the words “packages” and state the exact type of packaging instead.
For example: 71 packages should be specified as 12 wooden pallets with 480 cartons + 10 metal drums + 49 bales.
Packages specifications:-
Bultos - Brazilian Customs consider this the same as packages (generalized package), this description is no longer acceptable
Cases and Box - they need to be specified as wooden / plastic / paper / carton
Drums - they need to be specified as metal / plastic / carton
Bundles - they are considered as BALES (please use "Bales" instead of "bundles")
Liftvan – they should be specified as wooden boxes
Any discrepancies will result in a USD 3,000 fine.
