The Grand Peninsular and Oriental 4x4 Adventure Drive flag off opening ceremony was held on February 7, 2009 at Raffles Hotel in Singapore . 

The traditional Chinese Lion Dance performance cheered participants from various countries like South Africa , Germany ,  Holland , UK , USA ,  Portugal , and  Oman . With a total of 26 vehicles and 5 back up, service cars will start their 9,000 km expedition spanning across 7 countries from Singapore to Macau , China in 30 days.

Taking part in this expedition is a partner of our South Africa agents - SAEL's Mr. Rolf Pritz together with his wife and daughter. Driving a “Mitsubishi 4 wheel Drive SUV" car No.17, the Pritz Family had started their journey at 0918 hrs from Raffles Hotel Singapore and will drive all the way to Macau.
