Vietnam had experienced tremendous economic growth over the last few years. Much of this had been fueled by growing levels of foreign investment in the country

As the world is now undergoing a serious economic crisis, the year of 2009 is predicted to be a year of difficulties and challenges for this country's development. However, t he Prime Minister of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung has assured that “preventing economic recession, maintaining economic growth and ensuring social security” will be the Vietnamese government's top priorities in 2009.

In an article on the country's socio-economic development direction for 2009, Mr. Dung said that his government would focus on a 5-point plan to achieve the socio-economic targets, focusing on boosting production and exports.
