Global Hub
Singapore is currently the world's busiest container transshipment hub and receives approximately 140,000 vessel calls per year. Container terminal and port services are currently provided by PSA Corporation and Jurong Port Pte Ltd . We are well-connected by about 250 shipping lines to more than 600 ports in the world.
We are a major transshipment hub for the following destinations:
CHINA & INLAND DEST
• Fumigation required for all Wooden Packaging material for all China & Inland destinations
SOUTH KOREA
• Fumigation required for all Wooden Packaging material
INDONESIA
• Overweight surcharge of USD15 per ton applicable if per pkg exceeds 2500KG
• Original Copy of NON NEGOTIABLE BL is required for clearance at Jarkata for all telex release shipment
PHILIPPINES
• Customs clearance at final destination to be arranged by consignee
• Original copy of commercial inv and packing list required for DDU shipment
• Additional copy of import permit, cert of origin and other pertinent documents required for all Inland destinations
• Fumigation required for all Wooden Packaging material
INDIAN SUB-CONTINENT & INLAND DESTINATIONS
- Acceptance of food stuff require validity certificate, shelf life verification |
- Non-acceptance of heavy lift cargo exceeding 3 tonnes per package |
- (NOC) no objection certificate is applicable at consignee's account |
MADRAS , BANGALORE , HYDERABAD PORTS |
** - Subject to "Immediate Congestion Surcharge" of USD2/RT for consignee's account |
- Amendment of b/l after filing of custom manifest will be subjected to Non-compliance penalty of USD250. |
COCHIN PORT - ^^NO Personal Effects allowed / No DG cargo allowed. |
MADRAS PORT - Personal Effects subject to inducement |
CALCUTTA PORT - ++ Shippers need to produce "IMDG PACKING CERTIFICATE" for every DG shipment |
AUSTRALIA , NEW ZEALAND & INLAND DESTINATIONS
• Fumigation required for all Wooden Packaging material
SOUTH AFRICA
- Cargo dues (USD15.00/RT) and Port Congestion Surcharges (USD5.00R/T), payable by SHIPPER |
- Freight collect not acceptable for all inland points |
- Copy of commercial invoice is required 48 hours prior to vessel's arrival. Otherwise, Storage charge of USD1.50/RT/day applies. |
- Fumigation required for all Wooden Packaging material |
MIDDLE EAST
• DUBAI ** Consignees to complete custom clearance at Jebel Ali port ONLY
EUROPE MAIN PORTS
- Fumigation required for all Wooden Packaging material entering EU Countries |
- No Veterinary Food products / Foodstuffs allowed |
** ABERDEEN - 1CBM:500KG, whichever is greater |

- Rates subject to weight ratio of 300KGs=1cbm |
USA PORTS
- Fumigation required for all Wooden Packaging material |
- AMS fee at USD 25 per set of B/L is applicable. |
- AMS Amendment fee at USD40 per amendment |

General guidelines
Harzardous Cargo
• DG cargoes NOT acceptable for ALL inland points, China ports and HKG
• Prior approval MUST be obtained from Singapore
• A copy of MSDS (material safety sheet) is mandatory during time of enquiry
High Dutiable Cargo
• Commodities such as Tobacco, Liquor, Alcohol, MUST be approved by Singapore before acceptance by POL
Fumigation required
• China , South Korea , philippines , Indian Sub-Continent, Australia , New Zealand and South Africa
• European Union – Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Netherland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom
Personal Effect
• Copy of Commercial invoice, packing list with correct numbers and item descriptions to be given by shipper
• Clear copy of the passport
• Authorization letter from the shipper/consignee to guarantee payment of all Custom Clearence fee
(Copy of commercial invoice / packing list / value of personal effect req'd. Docs to be sent with shpmt to Singapore )
OOG cargo definition
• Long length not exceeding 5.9m
• Overheight not exceeding 2.0m
• Overweight not exceeding 3000kg per package
*Prior approval MUST be obtained from Singapore
High Density Cargo (eg: ball bearing, steel plates, ignots, heavy machinery etc…)
< 5 tonnes per shipmt - no surcharge
> 5 tonnes per shpmt - 1tonne : 2.5cbm
