ABOUT THE TERMINAL

Tuticorin Port is an artificial deep-sea harbour formed with rubble mound type parallel breakwaters projecting into the sea for about 4 km. The harbour basin extends to about 400 hectares of protected water area and is served by an approach channel of 2400 meters long and 183 meters wide.

•  Tuticorin (also known as Pearl City) is the only Port in Southern India offering a direct weekly container service to U.S.A. with a Transit Time of 22 days.
•  Weekly direct services to Europe on every Tuesday (transit time 17 days).
•  Weekly service to China with a transit time of 10 days.
•  Weekly service to Red Sea Ports with a transit time of 8 days.
•  26 services per month to Colombo are also available.
•  For the import containers for Bangalore & Salem region, concessional storage charges at Port area are offered on an experimental basis, in order to promote business.
•  Port has good road / rail connectivity. Presently two ICD rakes viz. One ICD train leaving Bangalore on every Sunday and another ICD train leaving on Wednesday are available for connection vessel to Europe and USA respectively.

LOCATION

Tuticorin Port is located close to the East-West International sea routes on the South Eastern coast of India in the Gulf of Mannar, with Sri Lanka on the South East.

 

Tuticorin Container Terminal is well linked to the major hinterland industrial clusters and cities around the region such as, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tirupur, by Rail & Road. Designed capacity of terminal is 4,50,000 TEUs

•  off-late commenced direct box service into Genoa (20's only)
•  Regular imports from Colombo
•  Regular hub boxes from Icd Coimbatore & Tirupur. Intermittent hub boxes from Icd Bangalore
•  Cargo flow into the location also from Madurai, Dindugal (nearby town with scope for fcl cargoes), and Rajapalayam
•  Accepting cargo world-wide on freight forwarding
•  Regular Freight Forwarding from Port Kelang and Shanghai
•  Chartering vessels , have done ex-tuti into male
