DELHI

 

The Capital city of India is located in the heart of Northern India , where it is very well connected to four Northern states by Rail, Road, and Air.

It is situated central of the following states in the region: Utranchal, Haryana, and Punjab & Rajasthan

 

 

FACTS OF THE CAPITAL

•  The Name ‘ Delhi ', is derived from the Name of a King who ruled the area in ancient times, called ‘Dhillu'

•  Settlements grew from the times of the Mauryan Empire in the City

•  Delhi , is one of the oldest and continually inhabited cities in the world

•  Extended Population : 23 Million

•  Per Capita Income: more than double the country's Average

•  Languages: Hindi, Urdu,

•  Was a Major City in the old trade routes from Northwest to the Gangetic Plains

Adjoining Delhi are the Satellite Cities of Gurgaon, Faridabad , Noida, Greater Noida, Sonipat, & Panipat

For the last two decades, many manufacturing units have started their operations in these areas, and have become major hubs for materials manufactured in these cities.

Each city specializes in a specific commodity for manufacturing and export. All of this cargo is consolidated into Delhi from where the cargo is railed out to the ports Nhava sheva / Mundra / Kandla / Pipavav, for loading onto Steamer vessels.

There has also been a change in the infrastructure of these satellite cities along with Delhi . Hence Custom bonded CFS and ICDs (Inland Container Depots) have been made to facilitate exports and imports in most of these cities.

Delhi is well connected to the main ports in the Western Region with Road and Rail network.

The rail network is widely used for all Export / Import considering the distance / frequency and transit time.

Due to privatization of the Rail corridor operations have improved between Delhi and the Ports.
