Distinguished Gentlemen / members of the Egyptian International Freight Forwarding Association (E.I.F.F.A )

Referring to the letter sent by the division dated 12/5/2009 regarding the member companies' violation of the division tariff in addition to the collection of dollar amounts claiming they received instructions from the overseas agent. 

”I regret to inform you that the E.I.F.F.A still receives the same complaints including explicit violation of the divisions' tariff and these complaints are now taking several irregularity forms, as we can recall for example:

•  Some NVOCC companies collect dollar amounts for each meter/ton, contrary to what is agreed upon.

•  Some NVOCC companies collect dollar amounts listed on B/L despite the full payment of the freight abroad.

•  Some NVOCC companies collect dollar amounts while claiming they received instructions from abroad. The study of the complaints and irregularities confirmed the deception of the few in order to bring some competition by importing Shipments without O/F by agreement with the local agent and the amounts are then collected from the customers.

In order to prevent that these actions become a general phenomenon, a statement has been presented to the board of directors during the session held on Sunday, 31 st of May 2009.

Therefore, the Board has found it necessary to send this letter to all members in order to be aware of  what the board is  intending to do regarding the violation of the Divisions' convention of honor  that we all committed to respect and abide by, including the tariff of services. This letter is considered a final warning to the offending companies regarding any amounts collected without being agreed upon between the shipper and the recipient.”

“The board of directors confirms its seriousness and willingness to take all necessary actions against any company from which it receives any complaints of the above.

The board will also send a primary warning to these companies and a formal letter to the custom authority to cancel their practice license concerning the issue of consolidated B/L. This course of action will be taken without referring to any of these companies and by using all the powers granted to the board by implementing the terms of membership declaration and the convention of honor authorized by the Assembly members of the division.

The name of these companies will also be published on the monthly bulletin and website of the Division.”
